Lindsay Ferrier: Wife, Mother, GARBAGE COLLECTOR

  1. Miss B says:

Although I hate germs, I think being a garbage collector wouldn’t be that bad, because you know where the germs are and are prepared for them – gloves, suit, etc. The smell would be awful though. However, for those of us who love working outside, being a garbage collector might not be a bad gig. Plus, I think there would be a lot of satisfaction in knowing how much you contribute to the quality of life for others. Yay for garbage collectors!

Agreed. Except for the fact that YOU MAY LOSE YOUR SENSE OF SMELL ENTIRELY, it’s not the worst job in the world!

Lindsay I have to say you are absolutely fearless!  Feeling the need for a shower right about now!

  3. Marsha Stanfield says:

I think garbage collectors don’t get the appreciation they deserve.  What would the world be like without them?

I’m glad you enjoyed your day, but I bet it wouldn’t be as much fun on a burning hot summer day or in the freezing rain or snow.

What, a dangerous thunderstorm wasn’t enough for you?
       😉

It really was a bad storm, too- At one point, lightning struck literally a few hundred feet from where we were standing! If only the cameras had been rolling…

  4. Natasha P. says:

When I was a kid I would always wait by the window for the garbage man and then run outside and wave. In high school, I took a field trip to the incinerator and  became even more fascinated by garbage. So, yes, if push came to shove, I would do it. Although in my town we no longer have people collectors, we have a mechanical arm.  Although there are people who come around and pick up the big stuff.

Very good! I was going through my bookmarks, and noticed your site. It’d been a good while, since I’d seen anything you’d written. Good to see you’re doing videos as well now. Promise to check back more often. And still miss reading your articles in THE SCENE.

  6. […] Take That Dare: Jobs Edition, which was definitely the toughest season I’ve shot yet. I spent a day working as a trash man, went ghost hunting in a haunted mansion, and played a team mascot at a minor league baseball game […]
