Win a $50 Visa Gift Card From BlogHer and Bounce!

Posted by: Lindsay Ferrier    Tags:  Giveaways    Posted date:  November 8, 2011  |  139 Comments

Sometimes, the simplest little things can make a big difference. Case in point: the Bounce Dryer Bar.

I received a Bounce Dryer Bar to try out in my dryer and honestly, I smile every time I see it. Because I do a LOT of laundry, people, and the fact that the Bounce Dryer Bar is now affixed inside my dryer means that I get to skip the extra step of throwing in a dryer sheet with every load FOR THE NEXT FOUR MONTHS.

Yes, throwing in a dryer sheet is a small step in the overall drudgery that is laundry. But that’s an extra few seconds that I now have to spend on other things. Like Marbles, for example.

The Bounce Dryer Bar is cost-effective (it’s currently going for $9.49 on Drugstore.com and refills are even cheaper), you don’t have to think about it for four months, and my laundry actually smells better and fresher than it does when I use dryer sheets. Also, my clothes are nice and soft and static-free when I take them out of the dryer.

In summary, I will be using the Bounce Dryer Bar forever! Believe that!

Wondering how it works? All you do is stick the holder and bar directly into your dryer’s drum and hold it down for a few seconds. You’re done! After about three months (depending on dryer use and settings), a replacement indicator will appear. You press the tab at the end of the holder, slide out the old bar, and slide a new bar into place. Easy peasy.

Bounce Dryer Bars come in Outdoor Fresh, Fresh Linen or Unscented. You can learn more about them on Bounce’s Facebook page.

And to get you even more excited about the Bounces Dryer Bar, BlogHer and Bounce are letting me give away a Bounce Dryer Bar and a $50 Visa gift card to one lucky Suburban Turmoil reader. All you have to do to enter to win it is leave a comment on this post between now and December 6th at 5pm PST, telling me how you shave time off of what I like to think of as “the laundry experience.”

Considering I only have to do my own laundry, you’d think it would be a snap. But doing it all – clothes plus linens and towels – at once is a drag. I now exit my new place through the basement, right past the washer and dryer. Every time I come in or go out, I start a wash, move stuff to the dryer or out of the dryer, or take a completed load upstairs. It takes minutes to do, and save the time and hassle of going up and down the stairs (often from the second floor) multiple times just for a single “laundry day”.

  • Erin Perry

I save time by only washing when someone absolutely has to have something. Then I throw everything in the wash together, unless there is something new and then I hold it out until I have a full load of that type of clothes (i.e. all reds or pinks, darks, etc)

  • http://kristinamarieb.wordpress.com Kristina

OMG I LOOOOOOVE my Bounce Dryer Bar. I would love to get one for free.

  • cheesehead4ever

Besides having children now old enought to put away their own laundry?  That is a big help!  I started making my own laundry detergent.  It has helped my daughter’s eczema and now I am using the same detergent for all of us instead of having multiple brands on hand.

  • http://www.havocandmayhem.com/ Comfy Mom

I save time by not turning clothes right side out. If they are in the hamper inside out they get washed that way, dried that way & folded & put away that way.

  • Mami2jcn

I save some time on Fridays when I leave the clean clothes folded in the basket and then the kids take clothes from the basket to wear on Saturday & Sunday.  I figure it doesn’t matter if they repeat their outfits on the weekends since their school friends won’t see them.

My big timesaver was teaching my kids to do their own laundry. (They’re eight and twelve years old.) They do a pretty good job! And if they aren’t folded and put away quite as neatly as I would do it, that’s okay. I just don’t look in those messy drawers!

  • Cindy

I love the Bounce dryer bar. It’s so easy and I never forget to add the dryer sheet. So much easier.
My husband, SAHD does the laundry so I save LOTS of time there! (Occasionally I fold, and when I do, it’s 5 loads at once and I can’t stand that!)

  • Natasha P.

I have been wondering if this Bounce Dryer bar works. I use Bounce sheets and have been skeptical regarding trying the bar but may give it a try now. Wish I had a laundry time saving tip, but, alas, I do not.

  • http://lifetimemm.blogspot.com Meghan P Williams

I have been very curious about these… I don’t know that I save any time with laundry, but I am in the process of training my daughters to take their own laundry to the basket, which in turn, may save my sanity more than my time…but those are interchangable..right?

  • Emilymariejudson

I do a TON of laundry with messy toddlers!  I would love this!

    • Emilymariejudson

I save time by having a laundry routine…so everything gets done in the same day.

  • Amy N

I only put away my own laundry.  Every man for themselves if you want to avoid a trip to laundry room every morning for clean underwear.

  • Rebecca Shockley

I have the teenagers help out with as much as possible and have them put there own things away

  • Bonnie

I have wanted to try this dryer bar, but hesitated because of the cost. Afraid it would be like most air freshners – work for about a week, then no smell left.

  • Robbie

i love bounce and have a house full of monkeys and their dirty laundry. Would love to try this out.

  • Kathees

i shave time of my laundry experience by turning sorting and folding into a game with the kids…and then i have to pay them. what ever happened to the good old days when parents forced their kids to do household chores in return for room and board?  now we have to pay for their services too?? not fair. next thing you know they’ll be unionizing.

  • Melissa

I keep everything pre-sorted in their own baskets. Whites, colors, reds, towels, sheets. That way it just takes me a second to grab an armful of laundry and toss it in! :-)

  • Jill King

Now that my daughter is away at college amazingly there is not that much laundry to do so it doesn’t take long to get it finished.  I tried the Bounce bar and I liked it.

everyone puts their laundry directly into the washing machint- that way i can see when its full and turn it on…we dont do separate loads either- evertything goes in except for sheets-those go on hot
    tcogbill at live dot com

  • Leann Lindeman

I have a thing downstairs by the washer and dryer to hang up stuff… Sometimes stuff hangs there till we need it. Lol.

  • MWJanet

My work clothes, which often require special care, go in a separate basket so I don’t have to sort them out when I’m ready to wash. I have a hanger bar in the laundry room to hang clothes on when they come out of the dryer or must be hung to dry. Darling husband puts his clothes in the basket and doesn’t leave items strewn hither and yon.

My only question about the bar is can you take it out when you have stuff you don’t want ‘softened’ going in the dryer. I don’t like using dryer sheets with towels, and no-iron shirts say not to use softener on them.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=500775995 Tina Harbin Miles

I now shave time off by NOT folding my 8 and 5 year old’s clothes. I throw them in two baskets and then tell them “Here you go, fold them and put them away!”  Some times they aren’t folded as well as I would (or not at all, but we’re working on that), but I am quite happy with how much faster it goes to fold mine and the younger two (I let my husband fold his own as well, he’s picky how he likes his shirts, so he gets to do it all! :-)

  • Catcradle8

I put in a load before bed and then put it in the dryer before work. A short fluff when I get home and I am folding some toasty warm laundry. Doing this everyday keeps me from having Mt Laundry staring at me all the time.

  • http://twitter.com/amweeks amweeks

I wait until the dryer & washer have BOTH stopped before heading back into the laundry room! I have my children sort their own hampered clothes into a laundry room sorter that I have…so the clothes are already sorted by the time I’m in there washing them!

  • Amy

I hang my wash on the line whenever weather allows. It does not save time but I find it relaxing and the electric bill definitely shows a difference.

  • Bebo74

Not that it shaves time, but it h as helped me recently by not allowing the laundry pile up. I always fold what cones out if the dryer versus letting ir pule up in the clean clothes basket. In the past I would let ir pile up with dive or more loads and then nor want to fold it.

  • Amy

My laundry basket has 3 slots, one for white, one for black and one for color clothes.  So, if “people” putting dirty clothes in the “right” slot, that could safe lots of time in sorting dirty clothes before washing.  :)

Organizations is the key.  Make sure everyone  puts the right colored dirty clothes in the proper “labeld” laundry basket.  If someone gets a stain I put stian removel on spot before putting it in dirty clothes. And last but not least ( don’t know if this saves time but helps me) I NEVER do more then two – three loads in a day.  Other wise I get overwhelmed so I generally do laungry two days a week or so.

  • Jmo0525

I’m undecided on the bar. We live in Fairbanks, AK and it’s super dry here. I do have a brand new bar in the dryer and, while the smell is nice, there is still a lot of static.

When we first moved in the bar was already in the drum but I used sheets too and that really worked well but seems kinda redundant.

I’m hanging in there with the bar but I may need to go back to sheets which is a bummer because the bar is so very convenient.

  • Heather

Hampers come down on laundry days and they are picked up the next day with folded clothes and clothes on hangers inside, then everyone puts away their own clothes. Everything is done in the laundry room so I am not moving things from room to room and wasting steps and time. They drop off and pick up.. definitely a time saver.

My laundry tip is that MOST laundry detergents work just as well in cold water as in hot, so using cold water will save you money by not using your water heater as much plus it saves you time as you don’t have to worry about changing water temp settings between loads or waiting for your water heater to catch up in-between washes!
