Win a Brand New Lands’ End Coat!

Win a Brand New Lands’ End Coat!

The weather has just begun getting chilly here, and I’m starting to think about the need for a winter coat.

I might update with a dressy coat this season, but I won’t have to worry about an all-weather coat for the next several years — That’s because Lands’ End was nice enough to send me one two winters ago, and it is holding up beautifully.

…Even after repeated rounds of THIS.

We’ve had more snow in the last two winters than we have in the ten years I’ve lived in Nashville, so this coat has gotten LOTS of use. Yet it still looks as good as it did the first season I owned it. It is warm, lightweight, durable and waterproof and when it finally wears out, I plan to buy another one just like it!

This probably doesn’t come as a surprise to anybody who’s bought a Lands’ End coat in the past (or for that matter, just about ANYTHING from Lands’ End). I’ve had several opportunities to work with them and I’m always happy to do it, because I am a HUGE fan of the brand, from the school uniforms line to outerwear. And now, I get to share the love with one lucky Suburban Turmoil reader!

One of you will win your choice of the following:

·         Women’s Diamond Down Parka (407736)
·         Boys/Girls Squall Parka (393170/392079)
·         Men’s Down Jacket (404311)

SQUEE!

To enter, just leave a comment on this post between now and Thursday, October 27th telling me why you want to win this giveaway. One comment per entrant, please, and this contest is open to U.S. residents only.

Good luck!

  • Summer

I want to win this because I live in UT and it gets COLD here! I have to kiddos and it would sure be nice to get a free coat for one of them!
Oh and I so recorded Hocus Pocus from your movie list last night!!! Can’t wait to watch it with my lil boy!

  • http://twitter.com/EverydayReading Janssen

We live in Texas, so it’s not that cold in the winters, but we go to visit my in-laws in Utah every year and. . .I die of the cold. Because I don’t own a real winter coat.

And yes, I am SUCH a fan of Lands’ End. Don’t they do great work?

  • Robin

I’d like to win this giveaway because my family is going on a winter trip to Colorado for the first time, and being from Texas, none of us have any really good winter gear.  I have a suspicion that hoodies aren’t going to cut it, huh?

  • http://justlikegoober.wordpress.com/ Mary

I definitely need a new coat, mine’s about 4 years old or so and is starting to show it’s age!

  • http://frugalnashville.wordpress.com Leslie @ Frugal Nashville

I would love to win a coat to frolic in all our newly-acquired Tennessee snow, too!

  • Sweet Simplicity

I do not have a good “snow playing” coat. With all the snow we have been receiving the past couple of years, I think I need one!

  • MWJanet

I have a Lands’ End coat, but not a down coat. I need something a little warmer for the coldest days this winter. My coat is also almost a size too small for me now, so I could use a larger coat. It’s a great coat and I’ve had it for several winters. If I win, I promise to donate the old one to Goodwill.

  • Anonymous

This will be my first winter in the midwest after living in the South my whole life.  I’m already freezing.  Love Land’s End!!

  • Robbie

I’d like to win it because my family is moving to Idaho and it’s VERY cold there. My current coat is a 3 yr old $15 one from Walmart with the lining ripping out.

  • Julia

I would like to win this coat because I never win anything, and I love coats. Also, I just had a baby, so I think I need a little something for myself! All I have bought in the past 10 months is baby stuff.

  • yasmara

Two words….MINNESOTA WINTERS! I love Land’s End for outerwear!

  • Hatta Hall

I have a lands end down coat for myself and would love to get one for my husband!

  • Julia T

I’ve yet to splurge on a Land’s End coat, but I’ve been coveting for a few years now!

  • Penelope Lolohea

I want to win because I SO need a nice winter parka! I buy my son a nice coat every winter, but I rarely buy myself one. It would be so nice to have! :)

    Thanks for the opportunity!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nikki-Rayunelle/100002823739024 Nikki Rayunelle

I would love to win a new coat for myself since I have lost 37 pounds since last year and would love a new, SMALLER size.

  • Keryn Ross

Oh I adore the rich red women’s coat.  Some people have a thing for shoes, my “thing” is coats and jackets and sweaters.  Except I’m poor, and so…my coat is 13 years old, and looks it.  (Poor me, wah wah.)  It still keeps me warm, so I shouldn’t complain.  But a new one would be AWESOME.

  • KelleyWinslett

Would be awesome to have for outside playmates this winter!! I always find myself on the playground in a dressy coat!

  • http://www.chellisms.com Chelle

I spend my winter weeknights and weekends on the sidelines of a soccer field while my oldest daughter plays. I have learned to stick Hotties hand warmers in my bra. Other than that I haven’t found a way to stay warm in the winter, crossing my fingers a new jacket will help!

  • http://www.peanutbutterhandprint.blogspot.com Andrea

Oh yay!  I foresee a lot of THAT in my future so I will definitely need a warm coat :)

  • LindaT

I would love to win a nice new coat and then hopefully not need it this winter in Nashville

  • Meganjflowers

I’ve never bothered having a really warm winter coat because I stayed in when it was cold. Now that I am a mom of a very active toddler boy there is no way we are staying in even if it’s cold! I am making it a point to get us outside as much as we can this winter. A warm coat would help so much! Splurging on a coat for myself is hard since I am a stay at home mom. It would be so nice to have something cute!

  • Bethany

Ooh, I would like to win because I love Lands’ End and I’m much too devoted to my budget to get myself a pretty jacket. Also, I’m due to have a baby any day now and could do with wearing something pretty as it gets chillier here…

  • Lindsay Crawford

I would love to win a boys’ parka for one of my sons!  We only need heavy coats a couple of times a year in Dallas, and it’s difficult to justify spending money on a good one like Land’s End.  Would love to win one!

  • Sstacy18

My hubbby has lost a lot of weight in the last few months. I would love to win him a new winter coat.

  • theotherjennifer

Because I live in New Hampshire where it’s 70 one minute and 30 the next and we have all kinda of weather – snow, rain, sleet, hail, ice. I would love to win a new parka that makes me look like the yummy mummy I am on the inside!

  • Catcradle8

I have never found the “perfect” winter coat. It looks like this would be the one to try!

  • Ziehrcl

Because I get a new coat every year and it barely makes it. I want one that will last! :)

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ann-Clark/713965179 Ann Clark

I never buy a REAL winter coat because I live in Alabama but if last winter is any indication I may need one this year.

  • Dhicklen

I havent had a good heavy coat in many years. Would love a coat!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=500775995 Tina Harbin Miles

I have 4 boys. The youngest is now getting old enough that I can’t use the “I’ll stay inside with the baby” excuse and I need to get out sledding with them like you and your son! And to do that, I need a warmer coat! (The one I use to get from house to car is fine but not warm enough!)

  • Sandra Taylor

I would love to win this coat because as a mom, I never buy myself anything….it’s always about the kids…but I could totally WIN myself something!!!! :)

  • http://shellywildman.net Shelly W.

I have had the same winter coat since, oh, 1995, and I really need a new one. Plus, I live in Chicago and we get WAY more snow than you do. :)

  • Emily Thomas

Havent had a new coat in YEARS

  • Emily Thomas

I haven’t had a new coat in years!!!

  • Meg

Love Lands’ End clothes.  They wear like iron.  My winter coat is one of their Squall Jackets, and I’ve had it about 12 years.  Would love to have a new one from Lands’ End, and I know it’d last just as long!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1125608623 Nyx Noirre-Specht

I love Lands End and my daughter has officially outgrown all of her coats from last year.

  • Carmen

I would love to win a coat for my oldest son. He’s grown out of everything, and as he’s a junior police officer and going to college full time, his funds are tight.

  • Jenny

I have a Land’s End pea coat that i bought almosst 10 years ago and it is still in great shape.  i would love to have a new parka though.

  • Stacie P

I have made a personal promise to take care of myself which includes getting outside and walking no matter what the weather is like. When it is very cold out it gets easy to want to stay inside by the fire and drink warm liquids. Winning a nice warm coat would help me in my mission to stay active, to stay healthy, to take care of myself.

  • http://profiles.google.com/gretchengerth gretchengerth

I would love to win this for my husband.  I always worry that he’s not warm enough.  He takes it much more casually but I worry.

  • Sally Rogers

Land’s End has the best coats around!  I’d love to have one for myself. :)

  • Jaime

Best coats EVER!!!  Love them and would love one of my very own.

  • Mary Laird

Hi Lindsay – I am the grandmother of a beautiful two year old baby boy who was born with the most severe form of spina bifida. Dayton was not expected to live beyond a couple of days, but through God’s will, and the amazing team at Vanderbilt, he is thriving. Dayton is in a wheelchair which necessitates more time and effort than usual loading him into his car seat and then packing up his chair, all of which equals more time spent in the weather. I only have one coat for myself; it is over ten years old, but a new coat is simply not in my budget.

    Genuine thanks for your consideration.

  • Cathy Meyer

Ooooh Lands End, my favorite Lindsay! They make the comfy-est and cozy-est coats around!

    ~Cathy in Shrewsbury

  • Cookiemonster1975

I would love to wear a smaller coat since I have lost about 30 pounds :)

  • Tara J. :)

I would LOVE to win this coat b/c the last winter coat I bought was when I was a Sophomore in college, so 2000! It is time for an upgrade!! :)

  • Anonymous

I would love one of those coats!  Kids get new coats as they grow, but somehow Mommy is always the last one on the shopping list!

  • Kristi Mc

I’d love to win any of these coats! 1. We live in Maine. 2. My son plays hockey (in what’s been said to be the coldest rink in the state). 3. I LOVE Land’s End. That’s it. :)

  • Marie

Living in upstate NY (aka The Tundra), we get heavy use from our winter coats. Mine is desperately in need of replacement! And I really want one with a hood. Love me some Lands End!

  • Amy

Just saying the other day how we needed to get new coats this year. This would help with the budget!

  • Lani

Would love to wind any one of those new coats because we have not purchased a new coat for any one in our family in years!

  • http://themiddlestsister.com/ Nicki

I want to win a winter coat because this is my third winter in Ohio and I STILL don’t have a proper winter coat. We’re saving for a garage door, so… it’s layers again this winter.

  • Anonymous

Thank you in advance for selecting me!

  • Jennifer in Ohio

With our move back north a few months ago, I had to buy winter coats for the family. My first (and only) stop was Land’s End. I love, love, love their coats – so cute and warm, and last forever. But you can never have too many coats. :-)

  • Cindy

I would love to win a coat for myself BUT I would pass it up to win a coat for my husband – he has a 2nd hand coat and it’s just not warm enough. He’s a SAHD and is always outside with our girls wearing a jacket inappropriate for the weather.

  • Ezynda

I love Land’s End and I live in a land where coats are a necessity nearly year round. Great Give-Away.

  • Jessica

Love this giveaway! I would love to have a decent winter coat especially a Land’s End one!

  • Jessica Jackson

I have only bought new coats for the kids for the last few years.  Mine is looking a little ragged.  Would love to have my own Diamond Down!

  • Amy

I was going to say I want to win so I can get a coat for myself, but maybe I’ll be nice and let my husband get a new one. He could use a nice, warm one when he is clearing our driveway. Oh, who am I kidding – I’ll take the coat for myself. We have tons of stuff from Land’s End and love it.

  • Michele

I would love to win a new coat! My husband and I are trying to conceive and I might need a roomier coat this winter (fingers crossed!)

  • Shannon

I would love it because I left my favorite coat in the airport bathroom last year. :(   It was a sad day! haha

  • Katherine

I would love to have a new coat for myself…while I love seeing my two growing girls in their new coats every year, it would be amazing to see myself in something new!  Mommy needs some *love*, too!  ;)

  • Susan

I would love to have a new coat for myself as well – I just bought my daughter a new snowsuit from Lands’ End :)

  • http://twitter.com/casemama Christine Case

I was just telling my husband that my one and only coat, a very dressy, knee-length affair, doesn’t really cut it for our Chicago winters. Who wants to wear that grocery shopping with the kids in January? A Land’s End coat would be perfect!

  • ‘Vue mom

I’m taking the family to NYC to enjoy the Christmas decorations and the whole family needs new coats to stay warm on the city streets.  Land’s End coats are quality and hold up so well.  It would be great to win one!

  • Tatkat Jnk

I would luv the down parka in black! My daughter 8yrs has never seen snow , were thinking bday  trip in Feb. I would need a jacket for that!

  • Mary Clare

Mom never gets a new coat in our house — it sure would be nice to have one!

  • mary m

Like everyone else, I am squarely in the ‘times are tough’ boat. I have been soldiering on thru the chicago winters in a fall-weight coat for 3 years now. My mom was nice enough to buy it for me, but it just isn’t warm enough. A warm new coat would be like heaven for me. IF I win, I will be very grateful to you for many winters to come.
    thanks!

  • Cherie

Oh I would choose one for myself because gosh darnit I deserve it! : ) In all seriousness my kids get new coats every year and my husband is what I refer to as a jacket whore, the man could open up his own coat store!

  • Jenna@CallHerHappy

I would love to win this coat because I am in the process of getting rid of all my old coats. I am giving them to the charities that my parents work for (homeless shelter and pregnancy center), and now I want one for me :)

  • Nadine P

A new coat.  Love.  Winning a new coat.  Love more.

  • Cookwith5kids

I would love to win a new coat for myself. We moved and I cannot find my old coat and it is getting awfully cold here

  • Kathy

Like someone else said, times are tough!  I would love to win so I could give it to either my granddaughter or grandson for Christmas.

  • Mjlaze28

I would love to win this for my 4 yr old little boy.  I bought one last year on clearance in a bigger size thinking it would fit but needless to say two growth spurts later the sleeves are way too short.  So, it would be nice to have a new coat that is nice quality and FITs properly.  Lol :)

  • Jordan

Would love this as the kids outgrow their coats soooo fast!!!  Thanks!

  • Megan F

I would love to win because my kids would look adorable in that sweet coat! :)

  • Ariana

I LOVE Land’s End too. I am an overstock/clearance shopper because their prices are a bit steep for our current budget.  DH has been wearing the same sad coat for more than 10 years now and I bet he could use a nice warm one!  And if he doesn’t like it, then I would.  We are going to Chicago in January (!!!) to visit family and I think I may freeze my buns off.

  • Frango

I really need a new coat!   Please pick me!

  • http://profiles.google.com/carolinastamper Katherine W

I have two wild and crazy little boys who are growing too fast! I’d love to win this because Lands’ End coats are so well made that I know it would still look great when it gets handed down to Little Brother the next year. Plus my boys love orange (so do I– it makes it easy to spot them in a crowd) and they’d go crazy for that Velvet Orange one!

  • Rjones2615

I would love to get one for my 11 year old that wears a Men’s medium! He grows way too fast!!

  • Chanale Fellig-Harrel

Living in New York is sheer torture for me, a native Miami girl. But my husband is a real city boy so I shiver my way through the long cold winter, all for LOVE. I deserve a warm hug (coat) for that, lol! Love your blog!!

  • Anonymous

I’d love to win the boy’s parka.    My husband and I are in the process of getting approved to adopt from the foster care system in our state.  Hopefully within the next several months we will be matched with a little boy to add to to our family!    We’d love to have a nice new warm coat for him!

  • cheesehead4ever

I would love to win a women’s parka, although it would probably go to my 11 year old daughter!

I have always had the best luck with Lands End.  Love their guarantee.  I now always buy my swimsuits and my kids’ swimsuits because they last and don’t fade!

  • Jlong

I would love to win a new coat!!

  • Kprestero

I need to win this because my son JUST WONT QUIT growing!  Good lord!  Feel like I’m refreshing his wardrobe every 4 weeks as he grows and grows… I’m going broke keeping up with these teenager growth spurts!

  • http://www.facebook.com/carrie.sheeley Carrie Bricker Sheeley

I’d love to win a new heavy winter coat.  It’s time to retire my old winter coat that I brought with me from PA to Georgia 11 years ago.  It’s no longer wearable and we’re in for a cold winter this year.  We’re going to PA for a week over Christmas and I’ll really need it then.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  • Paula

because last year we actually needeed a real winter coat over here in Knoxville I suspect we may again this winter!

  • Rubberbacon

I would love to win this coat because I haven’t bought a new coat in over 15 years!  It’s true!!  I still have this olive oil-skin duster my roommate convinced me to buy in college (after probably getting a commission) from a country western store.  I hate it but I’m too cheap to buy a new one.  Fingers crossed!

  • Natashajparker

Land’s End Clothing is the best. I have bought many clothes and coats from them over the years. My dressy coat is from Land’s End and I have had it for a couple of years now and it is every bit as awesome as it was on day one. I would love to have the parka for non-dressy days.

  • http://www.jackandmandy.com Mandy Hornbuckle

Woohoo!! I want to win because, well, I like free stuff.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Liz-Ross-Brooks/1610419185 Liz Ross Brooks

Please enter me! I love Lands End :) I have a coat addiction…

  • Betsy

I would love to win this coat for my nephew because I know my sister’s family doesn’t have a lot of extra money right now, but that a new coat for nephew is necessary. :)

  • ACV

I LOVE Land’s End and my son is finally big enough to fit in their coats :)

  • Anonymous

I would love to win the women’s jacket because I only have one jacket, a North Face– and with the ODD winters we have had lately (I live in Alabama), it just hasn’t done a good job of keeping me very warm.  I know the Land’s End jacket will give me no problems in that area!!!

  • Supermansmommy

Hi! I’m new to your blog, and love it! Thanks for a little quiet time for Mommy! If you’re giving away a Lands End Coat, we’ll take it! It gets COLD here in Spokane, Washington!

  • Wendy Sorter

Hi.. thanks for the giveaway.  I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a Lands End coat, after having to get new coats for kids this winter it would be nice to have one too (especially in Minnesota) and I love lands end.. especially their swimwear!
    Thanks,

    Wendy Sorter

  • Kristi

I’d love a new coat.  Lands’ End coats are the best!

  • Arin Lords

My daughters had to wear the same coats 2 years in a row (thankfully we bought them slightly larger the year before) because we couldn’t afford to buy new coats for them last year.   I would love to win the girls squall parka for one of them to have this year!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Amy-Louise/674310171 Amy Louise

This weeks forecast of SNOW in NEPA would be just one reason I’d love this Lands End coat. Good grief it’s only OCTOBER! Also, I’m a teacher with a class that loves to be outdoors. This coat may be all that stands between me and being a human popsicle during playground duty. Remember, warm happy teacher equals a happy class.

  • Heatherl

LOVE Land’s End!  Don’t think that I’ve ever purchased anything from them that I haven’t been pleased with, and LOVE that anything that’s ordered in the wrong size can be returned easily to my local Sears store.

  • Stacie

I need a new coat this year because I have lost 50 pounds and my old coats are going to let in a lot of icy wind! The kids needed new coats this year so I am low on the totem pole for purchases. I could really use a freebie and I looooove Land’s End. I get the kids’ winter gear there so I am on the email list. :)

  • Karen Baldasaro

Winning a winter coat would be marvelous for us!  Our family of 4 are all in need of a new one this year.  Only having to buy one would be so helpful!

  • Iverson

I wasn’t going to enter since I didn’t think anyone in my family really needed a new coat. This morning it was 27 degrees so I pulled out my son’s winter coat and told him to put it on. It fits great except for the fact that he can’t zip it and his arms stick out about 4 inches past the sleeves………………………. How do they grow so stinking fast? We need a new coat and fast over here in Oregon!

  • Spmaslanik

I am so ready for the winter snow. Last year was my first winter in California and I learned how to snowboard and fell in love with it! But being from Oregon my best “winter” coat was a raincoat, which didn’t fair to well in all the powder Tahoe got this year. BURRRRR!

  • Julie

I would love to win a new coat because the one I have is 4 or 5 years old and leaves quite a bit to be desired (I am one of those mom’s that buys for me last).  It doesn’t snow a lot here, but we too have gotten far more snow the last two years.  Thank you for the opportunity.

  • Pookiecat123

I would like to win this coat because I need a new winter coat!  I would love to win this and stay warm through our cold winter in Ohio!

  • Spagirlchristyv

A new coat for mw ould be nice.  You know how it is when you have 2 growing kids, your coat is last on the replacement list!

  • Spagirlchristyv

What I meant to type: A new coat for me would be nice. You know how it is when you have 2 growing kids, your coat is last on the replacement list!

  • Catherine

I’d love to win the women’s diamond down parka! It’s snowing here in Denver right now and this would definitely fit the bill!

  • http://myattkids.blogspot.com Melanie

we haven’t even hit temps below freezing yet and i already have perpetually cold hands and a continuous drip coming out of my nose.  i have 4 pick-ups and drop-offs each day so i have been looking for a coat that would keep me really, really warm.  i think the diamond down parka would be perfect!

  • Meganjflowers

a winter coat is just what I need in order to keep myself warm while my 2 yr old boy boy burns up some of that excess boy energy. I`ve made a commitment to myself and him to get us out everyday and not let the cold weather get to us!!!

  • Julie L

I love Lands End-their quality that lasts for years. plus I need a new winter coat:) thanks

  • Typelittlea

Because my Land’s End down coat from last year sprung a feather leak!

  • Katie

I’d love to get a boys coat – I can’t seem to keep them in clothes/outwear they are growing so fast!  I want to win to save myself a few bucks, and to know that maybe it will last more than one year, especially if I get it a little on the big size.

    Thanks!

  • MomofFive

I feel selfish trying to win something for myself (as I am in the common mom-habit of putting my husband and kids first) but I want to win this coat because I could just use a bright spot in a very trying year and holy cow would I ever use it every day during our Chicago winter! I was able to find winter coats for my kids that needed them at a resale school fundraiser so they are set for this year.

I am blessed with five beautiful children and a good husband, so things could be much worse, but this was one of the most difficult years in my life.

Among other things, I’ve faced health issues, the loss of my beloved grandfather (who I was gratefully able to be with across the country when he passed thanks to good friends who kept my five children), a car accident where I was injured, flooding in our home from the upstairs all the way down to the basement requiring extensive restoration still unfinished, and unsettling upcoming changes to my husband’s employment. Sadly, I didn’t cope well without the ability to run or exercise much due to my injuries, and ate my way through the trials.

Two years ago I shed the rest of my baby weight through discovering a love of running and donated all of my larger clothing, including coats. I’ve seen a women in my church wearing one of my old coats and I’m thrilled for her to have it. I’m likewise thrilled for those who received my other items.

Except after this year and the chunk of weight I’ve gained I am now without a warm winter coat in Chicago as my winter coat is just way too small. I’m cleared to be going on walks for exercise and would love to be before the kids are up every day this winter to rebuild my fitness level (eventually running again) and especially my mental health but this will not be possible without something heavy enough for this California transplant. And of course aside from morning walks, there are those ever important opportunities to build snowmen and snow forts.

Thank you for offering this giveaway. And know that if I win I will use this coat a LOT, and if the day comes that I’m not using it, I’ll make sure it is donated to someone else who can.

  • http://unitedstatesofmotherhood.com ScoutsHonor

Love Lands End and seriously do not have a ski jacket hat fits me.  Crossing my fingers!

  • Mskabich

Ive had my lands end coat for 6 years and it still looks new. Id love one for my 8year old.

  • amy h.

Mama needs a new coat!! Thanks for the chance!

  • Susanwatsonpe

I love Lands End! I’d love to win as I’ve lost some weight (yay!) and need a new winter coat that fits.

  • Emilymariejudson

I am one of those people who is ALWAYS cold, so I do not enjoy all the Winter activities here.  I would love a cute, warm, winter coat so I can get outside with my kids and actually enjoy the snow!

  • cyllusmom

A new coat for mama would be splendid!  The girls winter coat needs definitely top mine.  Thanks!

Like you said- winters in Nashville are getting crazier and crazier and I haven’t bought myself a new coat in forever.  And I need one.  Badly:)

  • http://twitter.com/mochamomma mochamomma

Only because I’ve lost too much weight to wear my other jackets do I *need* and I mean NEED a new jacket.

I have a friend who just told me she has -$17.00 in her bank account.  She and her husband are both self employed and prospects are looking grim for the months ahead for bringing in enough to cover their basic expenses.  Her 6-yr-old son is turning 7 in a couple of weeks and she was questioning the very foundation of her capabilities as a mother when she couldn’t even bring in enough money to buy her son a birthday present.  In a tight knit community like Missoula, we are all extremely blessed to have hand-me-downs passed around, particularly things like warm jackets, and I know her family has made use of them probably better than anyone I know.  However, I saw this post and thought of her son and how much a new jacket of his very own would mean to her and their family and would be a wonderful birthday present for the little guy.
