>Lucinda’s 5 days of sickness
>Day 1: I’m sick. My nose is non-functioning, my throat hurts and my head feels like it’s stuffed with cotton. More cotton than usual. No big deal. It’s a good excuse to lie on the big playroom pillow all day watching Gilmore Girls Season One on DVD and letting Baby do whatever the hell she wants. I knock myself out with Nyquil at 9pm and sleep the sleep of the dead.
Day 2: I’m still sick. Shit. The house is a wreck after just one day off, so I halfheartedly do some cleaning, but it makes me feel worse. Why do I live in such a shithole? I mope around, feeling sorry for myself, and knock myself out with Nyquil at 9pm so that I can sleep the sleep of the dead.
Day 3: My throat doesn’t hurt anymore, but my nose is still stuffy and my head hurts. And I’m tired. So tired. Still sick. It seems like a cold, but I’ve had it for so long now. I look up my symptoms on the Internet. Am I dying? I contemplate making a goodbye videotape for Baby. Who will take care of Baby?! Must instruct Hubs to remarry. Someone who does not want children of her own. Wait. What am I saying? Must instruct Hubs not to remarry. But first, I knock myself out with Nyquil at 9pm and sleep the sleep of the dead.
Day 4: Still sick. Something seriously is wrong with me. I am probably most likely seriously ill and I must be depressed. Because I’ve just been lying on the sofa for the last four days, getting nothing done. That’s what depressed people do, right? And I look awful. I have rings under my eyes, for God’s sake. And no motivation. What is wrong with me? Also, Hubs hasn’t seemed very attracted to me this week. When I try to kiss him, he turns his face and mumbles something about not wanting to get sick. Our marriage is crumbling. I’m seriously ill. And I’m depressed. I shed a few tears of self-pity, then knock myself out with Nyquil at 9pm and sleep the sleep of the dead.
Day 5: I’m well. Uh. Forget all that stuff I just said.

>Good, there’s hope for me yet. I’m on day #3 and really hoping I’m better before Friday, when we actually get to go out on a date. At least you’re getting some sleep though! Our 2 year old’s sleep schedule has been wacked since the time change Saturday and she was up from 12:15 to almost 4 a.m.

>You need to reverse the prescription–take the NyQuil IN THE MORNING! And stay up all night watching old movies. You don’t get better faster, but you have more fun! And in the dark you can’t see how messy everything is.
