“I’m going to make a quick phone call,” I told my 14-year-old son not long ago, after picking him up from school.
“Who are you calling?” he asked.
“You’ll see,” I told him. I speed-dialed Dennis Ferrier and put the phone on speaker.
“Hello?” Dennis said.
“Hey!” I said. “I just wanted to let you know to expect a call soon from Deez.” Beside me, my son’s eyes widened.
“Deez?” Dennis said. “Who’s Deez?”
“DEEZ NUTS!” I shouted and hung up.
“MOM?!” My 14-year-old shouted in disbelief. “I can’t believe you just did that! Did you hear that on TikTok?”
“Oh that joke is way older than TikTok,” I told him.
Just then, the phone rang. It was Dennis, calling me back. I put it on speaker.
“Hello?” I said.
“I can’t believe you prank called me!” Dennis said.
“I can’t believe you fell for it!” I replied.
“I know!” He said. “But seriously… Who is Deez?”
I glanced over at my son. “DEEZ NUTS!” I shouted and hung up on Dennis again. My son and I both laughed until there were tears in our eyes.
“He fell for it… TWICE!!!” my son gasped with laughter. “I’ve never seen that happen before!”
