>Last night, the gods of hair and makeup must’ve been smiling upon me.
Hubs and I were out with some of his (and my former) co-workers at a trendy little wine bar. He called for our check and pulled the pen from the receipt book in order to sign the bill.
“What the heck?” he said, looking at the large red smudge the “pen” had left on the receipt.
“This is a lipstick pencil!” He started to gesture to the waiter.
“Hold on a second!” I whispered, grabbing the pencil from him. M.A.C. Plum. Practically unused.
I rummaged through my purse, pulled out a pen and looked at the writing on it. ‘Holiday Inn.’ Perfect.
“Use this,” I said, trading him for the lipstick pencil and stashing it in my bag.
This morning, Hubs said, “You’re not really going to use that lipstick pencil, are you?”
“Hell yeah,” I said. “Sharpen it down and it’s good as new. That saves me $12.50.”
I thought for a second.
“Five years ago, I would never have used that lip pencil. But now, times have changed.”
*Okay, so I sort of forgot to look for my latest column to be posted over at Mamazine. But it’s up now and you can find it here.

>Nice find! It reminded me that a long time ago I found a pretty pair of earring studs just lying on the pavement somewhere. I took them home and disinfected them in TCP and they have seen a lot of use since then. They’re only cheap things, but they’re mine. Ha!
>You are resourceful and witty! A girl after my own heart. Tee hee.

>I own my domain now, so if you use suburbanturmoil.com, it will redirect you here.My template was really difficult to transfer from Blogger to Moveable Type, so I’m going to wait until I get a new template to move to MT. I’ve got too much going on to deal with that right now.
